
The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only® CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment by using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.
Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a course certification card in CPR for their job. This course is ideal for schools and students, new parents, grandparents, babysitters and others interested in learning how to save a life. This is a brief course (about 1 1/2 to 3 hours depending on the size of the group) and is very affordable. Group discounts are also available.
Family & Friends CPR is a classroom-based course that is taught by an AHA Instructor. This course is video-based and includes skills practice throughout.
Course topics can be presented together or taught separately as stand-alone modules. Following are approximate times for each module:
• Adult CPR/AED/Choking: about 25 minutes • Child CPR/AED/Choking: about 35 minutes • Infant CPR/Choking: about 30 minutes
This course applies AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which improves learning and retention. The classroom format works well for learners who prefer group interaction and feedback while learning skills. Each student receives high-quality course materials for ongoing reference. These materials are included in the course price.
