An instructor-led, classroom-based Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers course. It is based on the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

Areas covered:

  • single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both in- hospital and out-of-hospital settings
  • emergency recognition
  • adult, child, and infant rescue techniques
  • high-quality CPR
  • AED use
  • relief of choking.
    
This course is intended for healthcare providers with clinical responsibilities including: nurses, physicians, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows, medical or nursing students in training, lifeguards, police officers, firefighters, security personnel, and other allied health personnel.

After the instruction, students are required to demonstrate skills and are required to take a written exam for certification. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be BLS certified for 2 years and receive an AHA BLS certification card (Included in your course fee).

The course takes approximately 4 hours to complete (depending on class size) for initial certifications, and approximately 2-3 hours for renewals.
