
An instructor-led, classroom-based Heartsaver First Aid course, which teaches participants critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives.
The course covers:
• first aid basics (including scene safety, finding the problem, and calling for help)
• medical emergencies (including actions for choking, breathing problems, and shock) • injury emergencies (including actions for bleeding, broken bones, and burns) • environmental emergencies (including actions for bites and stings, and temperature-related and poison emergencies)
This course is intended for individuals who have a duty to respond to emergencies because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. This course is also appropriate for all members of the community who want to be prepared in the event of a serious life threatening injury.
After the instruction, students are required to demonstrate their skills for certification. There is no written exam requirement. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be First Aid certified for 2 years and receive an AHA certification card (Included in your course fee).
The course takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete (depending on class size).

The AHA Student Workbook is required for this course and is available for purchase separately if you do not already have access to one. It is also includes a separate Quick Reference Guide. The manual is based on the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines.
